BACKGROUND
Smithsonian Folkways, located in downtown Washington, is the nonprofit record label of the Smithsonian Institution. With a collection of music ranging from folk, world, children's, jazz, blues, and more they present themselves as a well-known expert within the music industry.
PROJECT
This Folkways project was focused on redesigning a record from the collection in a fresh by classic way. I chose to redesign eight records and create a box set, A Collection of Sounds. The box set design used vibrant colours, collaging, and simplicity in order to ensure a solid tone and tradition was still present within the updated designs. My updated designs for each record included a custom matching cd design, liner notes booklet, and folder, all enclosed in one large branded box.
